![]() I have been to Elizabeth Street Cafe many times during my 12 years of living in Austin, and it is one of my favorites for Sunday brunch. Last Saturday night, a group of friends and I visited Elizabeth Street Cafe in Austin, Texas. This is a must try.Ĭome hungry and come early. ![]() Stir fried noodles are equally yummy.Īnd the best is the mix of 55b and 55c - wide flat chunks of rice noodle deep fried so they look likely crispy chunks of tofu, with chicken, shrimp and beef with broccoli and a basil brown sauce. Shrimp fried rice has a good wok fired taste and loaded with shrimp. Rolls are rolled right and have a delicious peanut sauce. And all soups come with a plate of mung beans, cilantro, jalapeño, and lime wedges. No mater the size, they don't skimp on portions. Their soups have good flavor - the pho with the beef base and the rice noodle soups with chicken/pork/shrimp seem to have a chicken base. ![]() Or they'll help seat you.Īll soups come in two sizes: small and large. If you see an empty spot, feel free to grab it. Not a ton of tables inside, and if you're at a table configuration for a larger group, you may be asked to shift around if your food hasn't come out in order to accommodate larger parties. Tan My is located in one of the tiniest strip malls ever, so head here early otherwise parking is definitely an issue. Overall I am extremely happy with this restaurant and will be coming back.Įdit: I do suggest that they look into recyclable or compostable to-go containers though, it would be a really amazing thing to see more restaurants doing this but I know it can be expensive. They had multiple people that had walked in and they knew their names and that tells me that they appreciate their regulars and make a point of committing them to memory to ensure the customer knows they are appreciated. I found them from a friend and they have his name memorized. Everyone that worked there was super kind and welcoming and you can tell they were just really happy to have customers. The establishment was clean and felt like stepping into someone else's warm and inviting home with the super adorable pictures of kids (I'm assuming the owner's kids or pictures of themselves as kids). It took about 15 minutes and they brought it to me (I was sat at the back near the front door). I knew exactly what I wanted and the order process took very little time. I found their menu online (you can order online but it wouldn't let me for some reason) and despite the fact that I was supposed to order online the lady at the counter was very sweet and allowed me to order anyways. The prices for everything are very cheap for the sheer amount of food they pack into their to-go containers.
